The mission of the Timeless Traditions Foundation Community Development Corporation (TTF) is to honor and perpetuate the enduring legacy of the Carter Family by preserving cultural heritage, advancing education and economic mobility, providing quality affordable housing, and fostering generational health resilience.
- Inspired by the Carter family's history of farming and self-sufficiency, we empower our community through historical preservation, lifelong learning, and economic self-sufficiency—supporting comprehensive health and wellness, with an intentional focus that confronts systemic health disparities.
Vision
We envision a vibrant, equitable community where individuals and families have access to stable housing, quality education, and generational health resilience—just as the Carter family did on their land.
As an adult, I look back and marvel at the sheer audacity of my grandparents. In 1889, my grandfather bought 160 acres, a footprint my grandmother later expanded by 279 acres—anchoring our family with stable housing and generational wealth. They used their resources to build two churches, creating a sanctuary for quality education where we learned scripture, literacy, and leadership.
They were also the guardians of our community's health and resilience. Their country store and farm fed everyone, no matter their ability to pay, and their home was a refuge for anyone needing work or shelter. My grandmother was our herbalist, treating the sick with natural remedies. When I cut my leg on a piece of tin as a kid, she didn't take me to a hospital; she poured lamp oil on the wound and bound it with cloth. The scar remains, a lifelong reminder of their strength, resourcefulness, and enduring care.
By centering cultural heritage and community voice in every decision, we transform history into a living resource that advances holistic health and wellbeing—dismantling the root causes of inherited disease for generations to come.

A percentage of proceeds from Echo Valley Micro Resort stays at the 44-acre Carter Homestead estate flows directly back into community programs and the Legacy Grant scholarship fund—turning the land itself into an engine for economic empowerment.
Fiscal Sponsorship Services
TTF serves as the legal and financial home for community-led projects and initiatives that don't yet have their own 501(c)(3) status. Under TTF's umbrella, sponsored projects can receive tax-deductible donations and grants immediately—removing the biggest barrier to getting grassroots work funded.

Oral History GrantStudents document stories of long-term land ownership and the evolution of the regional community—building a physical and digital archive of the foundation's history for generations to come.
Outcome: A systematically built archive ensuring the legacy is recorded and preserved for future generations.
Pillar 2 · Wellness
Community Wellness Service-Learning Scholarship
Service-Learning AwardTied to the student leading a community workshop at the wellness garden or helping design regional health advocacy programs. Award is earned through service, not just academics.
Outcome: The foundation gains fresh research and manpower; the student gains real-world community empowerment experience.
Pillar 3 · Leadership
High-Strategy "Solutionist" Executive Fellowship
Executive FellowshipThe most advanced track. Fellows assist in the operational strategic planning of the foundation or Echo Valley Micro Resort, learning the Solutionist methodology—building high-precision organizational systems that last.
Outcome: The next generation of nonprofit leaders mentored while providing high-level administrative support for the foundation's complex projects.
Pillar 4 · Land & History
Ancestral Land Stewardship Grant
Stewardship PracticumFor students pursuing studies that deepen our capacity to preserve and steward the Carter Homestead—with a required capstone project utilizing the 44-acre estate as a living case study.
Outcome: A pipeline of professionals who understand the nuances of managing historic, family-held land.
Implementation Framework
Eligibility
Preference for descendants of land-owning families or local community members with demonstrated commitment to the foundation's mission areas.
Legacy Project Requirement
Each scholar presents a "Legacy Project" at the annual foundation gala or community kickoff—demonstrating real impact, not just academic output.
Mentorship
Every scholar is paired with a member of the TTF leadership team for career coaching, professional development, and ongoing community connection.
Annual Gala Presentation
Scholars share their work publicly at the foundation gala, reinforcing accountability and community celebration of their contributions.
Self-Sustaining Funding Model
A percentage of proceeds from Echo Valley Micro Resort stays at the 44-acre Carter Homestead estate is poured back into the Legacy Grant scholarship fund—ensuring the land itself continues to invest in the next generation of stewards, healers, historians, and leaders. The estate doesn't just preserve the past; it funds the future.
